MOT Testing

Our MOT Testing service has become increasingly popular as our customers take advantage of our special discounts and prompt service (see our Special Offers page for current price details).

MOT testing is carried out independently of our car repair facility, avoiding any conflict of interest and ensuring that all our customers receive a fair and unbiased report on their car's condition.

Should you require any repairs we will, of course, be happy to give you a competitive quote to bring your car up to the required standards using only quality branded parts, in our fully equipped garage.

Customer Advice - Diesel Engines
As part of the Diesel MOT test you may be asked questions about your vehicle's maintenance history, for example, has the timing belt been replaced recently?

Why is this information important?
The check has been designed to make sure, as far as possible, that no damage occurs to the engine whilst undergoing a diesel emissions test.
The tester has to satisfy himself that the engine is in a fit condition to test. If the tester thinks that the emissions test may damage your vehicle, he may refuse to test it.

How is the emissions test performed?
After checking the oil temperature to ensure the engine is warm, the MOT tester will accelerate the engine from idle until the governor cuts in a maximum of 6 times. Your engine will not be held at full speed for any length of time.
If your engine has been properly maintained, the test should not cause any damage to your engine.

The MOT test covers the following items:

Is free from excessive corrosion or damage in specific areas and there are no sharp edges likely to cause injury.

Has no leaks and the fuel cap fastens and seals securely. The test requires the fuel cap to be opened so we'll need a key if required.

The vehicle meets the requirements for exhaust emissions, dependant on the age and fuel type of the vehicle.

Is secure, complete, without serious leaks and silences effectively.

All belts installed are checked for type, condition, operation and security. All compulsory seat belts must be in place.

All front seats are secure and that the front and rear seats can be secured in the upright position.
